My Story
Hello and welcome to my website! I am a counsellor & Yoga facilitator on the Gold Coast.
After losing my brother Phillip to suicide in 2008 (I was 23), I believed I was processing my grief, but looking back, I suffered from dissociation and PTSD. I used travelling, drinking, and withdrawing from others as a way to cope.
I continued this pattern, feeling numb and disconnected even after becoming a successful Yoga teacher and personal trainer. I was never fully present, and looking back it was like I had a big dark hole inside of me. Despite my struggles, I enjoyed teaching Yoga and connecting with clients, which inspired me to want to become a therapist.
At 30 I went to India and Nepal for over a year seeking healing, and to further study Yoga and meditation. I tried many healing modalities and hoped that I had healed, but when I got back home, I returned to the same patterns and the black hole was still there. This led me to finally get trauma counselling six years ago, which taught me how to manage my emotions and cope with my anxiety and trauma.
My counsellor was amazing; she was patient, kind, caring and taught me about my journey of grief, depression, anxiety, trauma. I then took the leap and enrolled in a Bachelor of Psychology Honours, which I recently graduated from.
I work as a crisis counsellor for Lifeline Australia, as well as seeing clients for private counselling and/or Yoga sessions.
I believe in creating a safe and supportive space for you to explore your thoughts and feelings, and I use evidence-based practices to help you make positive changes in your life.
My Approach
Throughout my life & healing journey, I was led to explore a variety of different modalities & approaches to healing, health & wellbeing.
They presented themselves at the right time to support me & they all played a very important role in my healing.
Over the years, I have been guided to study & incorporate new modialities into my tool belt, which is what allows me to provide such a diverse & holistic approach to my services.
My organic journey to becoming a counsellor & facilitating healing beyond just myself was led by following my heart. This allows me to be embodied in the modalities that I use & to have a unique empathy & understanding for you, wherever you are on your healing journey.
